Toyota Coaster Mechanical

Toyota Coaster Mechanical Features

Whether you’re dropping off at the local school or sports club, or picking up from the airport, even with a full passenger load you’ll marvel at the Coaster’s smooth power. With both the 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission (option on Deluxe grade), the Coaster is as happy zipping around the city as it is cruising along on the freeway – even with trailer in tow. And when you get to your destination, you’ll be pleased to know that the Coaster has been designed for smooth turning and easy parking.

Advanced suspension

To any bus passenger, a smooth ride is a good ride. (Not to mention the driver!) That’s why the Toyota Coaster features independent front suspension with double wishbones and an upper torsion bar. This combination not only makes for happy passengers, it also enhances driver control. Add to that the long tapered leaf springs in the rear, and you’ve got a comfortable – and stable – bus ride for everyone.

Power & performance

Coaster’s 4.0L OHV Turbo diesel engine produces 110 kW of power and 397Nm of torque which makes it easy to pull out from the kerb, overtake on freeways and suitable for towing on long trips away. The Coaster continues to perform when it comes to parking with a tight turning circle of 14.4m making it easy to manoeuvre in tricky situations. A 4-speed automatic transmission is available on Deluxe models only.
